Double password problem

I lost my password for another forum and so sent a reset message to the
windows mail email address connected to it. However, I then discovered that
that email could not sent or recieve messages because it has picked this time
to start demanding that I verify it's own password (and has those error
messages saying it couldn't send or scan for new messages), and I have no
idea what it is. I have some suspicions but it rejects everything. I looked
around here but I still don't know how to retrieve it;I've never really used
email in depth and I don't really know what's going on. Any help?

One suggestion I saw was to delete the account, restart Mail and then
recreate it. If I did this, would it still recieve the recreate password
messages from that forum I mentioned?

This had been very anoying, and it would be appreciated if this could be
resolved quickly.

Windows Mail is the e-mail *client* included in Windows Vista. It is
NOT an e-mail account or a mailbox. Perhaps you meant that you used a
Windows Live *Hotmail* account to register for the forum. You thought
Hotmail was a reliable and dependable e-mail service? Wait a day until
Microsoft is done playing with their e-mail service.

Login using the webmail interface to your mailbox (you never mentioned
HOW or what e-mail client that you are using). If you get the
intervening security page telling you to enter the text shown in the
CAPTCHA image then, well, enter it and that security page goes away (for
awhile until Microsoft decides to again test that a human is using that
account and not a spam bot).

So which is it? You are getting prompted for your login credentials to
your unidentified e-mail provider (which might be Hotmail)? Or you are
getting prompted for a password to login to the forum to post there?

This is Usenet, not a venue to free service from Microsoft. No one here
works for Microsoft. If the outage doesn't go away in a day, you'll
have to follow their web help pages on how to get help from Microsoft
(don't expect miracle support for a freebie e-mail service).

proxy), those are gateways to Usenet. Despite the pretense of a forum,
you are participating in a newsgroup (aka Usenet).

- Do NOT omit the message.
- Do NOT describe the message.
- Do NOT summarize the message.
- Do NOT paraphrase the message.
- Do NOT truncate the message.
- Do show the ENTIRE message (but munge or star out personal info,
like your username in an e-mail address but not the domain).
And DETAIL the steps to reproduce the error or problem.
